About me

Hello! My name is Kara and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Utah. My Masters degree is in Mental Health Counseling, which I have held since 2017. I have experience working with adults, teens, and families. I have extensive experience working with individuals and families regarding issues of attachment/relationships, boundaries, self-worth/identity, adoption, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. I also have extensive experience working with young adults and college students on a variety of issues. I am trained in Brain Spotting as a treatment for trauma, which can be done virtually. I am an expert in the field of adventure based counseling, and while that's hard to replicate online via Telehealth, I do like to integrate experiential therapy or encourage time outdoors or physical movement when appropriate.

As a counselor I am here to support you through life's many challenges, which often feel overwhelming. There are seasons of life that leave us all struggling and in need of someone to hold hope for us when we can't hold it ourselves. My goal is to always hold hope for my clients. I take a person-centered approach to therapy, as well as solutions-focused, both of which are warm and interactive. I am generally laid back in my approach to therapy, and I ask questions with genuine curiosity, because I truly want to get to know you- strengths, challenges, and all. This will then help me individualize my approach to your needs. I am here to listen non-judgmentally, and walk along side of you as you begin to explore the feelings that led you to seek out therapy. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Adventure Based Counseling, Family Systems, and Attachment based approaches in therapy to meet you where you are and give you the best tools to grow.

I believe in honesty and genuine interactions in the therapeutic relationship, as our relationship as therapist and client is vital to your success in counseling, as is your commitment to the process. I would love the opportunity to join along side of you in the therapeutic process as you work towards the goals you have set for yourself. However, if you decide my style is not a good fit for you, I encourage you to let me know and I will do my best to help you find support that is.
