About Me

Welcome!! I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. My approach with clients is engaging and interactive, and I am invested in the collaborative process, which I believe is inherent to the therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment finding balance between active listening, empathy, support, and behavioral interventions. I will help you identify and better understand choices, ways of thinking about situations, and behavioral patterns that may be getting in the way of living your life to the fullest. In our work together, we will focus on thought patterns, symptom reduction, improvement in mood and functioning and improved ways of relating to others and the world. I believe that individual has the capacity for change, wellness, and healing.

My passion is to help others reach their maximum potential and find a sense of peace in their lives. I believe in identifying your strengths, combining them with healthy coping skills, and replacing your negative thinking as ways to help you overcome your current obstacles. I tailor my work with people depending on the specific needs of each client. I use short term, recovery oriented interventions to allow people to take immediate steps, creating momentum in their lives, while addressing deeper issues that may be more subtle, or illusive with longer term strategies.

I strive to assist my clients in achieving personal growth and increased happiness. I have extensive experience working with individuals dealing with a variety of issues related to depression, anxiety, parenting issues, relationships, domestic abuse, and stress management.

I believe strongly in a non-judgmental approach to therapy, and I offer an emotionally safe space where you can explore important life issues in an authentic way.

I hope that our work together will support you in your personal growth and your pursuit of a more fulfilling life.

Karen helped me through some very hard things, after my mother died. She listens, first and foremost, and without judgement, and she offers help that feels practical and grounded. We all can use kindness like hers.

I can honestly say I don't think I'd be here without her help!

Karen is very responsive and empathetic. She offers excellent perspective and I find conferring with her to be very helpful. One of the things I love about BetterHelp is it provides a totally neutral forum to talk about things that I would rather not bring up with my family or friends. It is super convenient and confidential also. A+!

Written by K.Y. on Oct 20, 2019 after therapy with Karen for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, addictions, trauma and abuse, parenting issues, self esteem, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and adhd

I feel completely comfortable and safe speaking with Karen. She offers a variety of ways to speak/communicate with her, and she listens to me and my concerns/feelings. Finding someone to actually listen and has the ability to hear you, is so hard to find these days. There is no one in my area that I feel as comfortable with as I do as Karen. Karen is a great example of what Better Help can offer. I highly recommend Karen to anyone who wants/needs their feelings to be heard.

Written by J.E. on Sep 23, 2019 after therapy with Karen for 2 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, grief, self esteem, coaching, and compassion fatigue

Karen is a great therapist. She was able to help me narrow down the cause of any issue I encounter which gives me direction on how to resolve it. I like how she asked me questions that help me feel comfortable in opening up and trusting the process of healing. I also like how she listens and pays attention to most of the things I share with her.

I would highly recommend her to anyone that feels ‘all over the place’. I truly appreciate Karen for simply being there for me.
