About Me

Hello! My name is Karlie and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Oklahoma. I have spent over 13 years working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including residential, transitional, outpatient, and in-home. All of that to say that I have had experience working with a broad range and diverse populations of people. I have the most experience working with anxiety, depression, family conflicts, relationship conflicts, life transitions, and complex trauma/abuse. I also have experience working with LGBTQ and transitioning individuals as well as other minority groups.

My dedication to the field of mental health stems from my personal experience. I know that getting help can be a challenge. The process for getting help can be overwhelming and can feel frustrating and lonely. However, I also know how much life can change for the better when you invest and participate in therapy.

I use a person-centered, holistic, and multicultural approach. This means we start together where you are and find a treatment approach that fits your overall goals and needs while being aware and sensitive of your lifestyle. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused counseling and EMDR. At times, I do incorporate more "classical" approaches to counseling as well.

I would describe my style as open minded, nonjudgmental and supportive. I am ready to help you tackle your struggle at your pace in a friendly environment. Collaboration is important - together we can work on establishing goals and steps for you to help overcome your current concerns. If you are looking for quick fixes, I am not the best counselor for you as I believe in the value of taking time to establish a working relationship. For me, counseling is much like physical health in that it takes consistency, commitment and time. I look forward to helping you in any way I can!

Karlie is very understanding and extremely polite. She gives me time to work through things and doesn't pressure me to open up in anyway until I am ready. She is one of the nicest people I've ever met. I would strongly recommend her!!
