Hello, My name is Katherine
First, I want to commend you for seeking help. For many people, this is the hardest step in therapy. When we are in pain, the natural inclination is to act quickly or retreat. It takes strength to look inside and seek more permanent, satisfying solutions. We are going to use that strength and many others you may not even know you have to move toward the place you want to be. We will also probably add new tools to your skill base.
I have 20+ years experience as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) helping teens and adults from many different walks of life address a broad spectrum of mental health concerns. These include depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse, high risk behaviors, obsessions/compulsions, stress/anger management, relationship problems, and others. I am also a licensed registered nurse (RN) which gives me increased understanding of the many ways in which emotional and physical wellbeing intersect and small adjustments of one can dramatically affect the other.
My style is naturally warm but I can adapt if you are more comfortable with a matter-of-fact approach. My methods are eclectic, blending interventions from a variety of research based modalities to best meet each individual situation. Katherine has been such a great help in helping me understand things and why I feel the things I do. Her exercise to get me to go back to my childhood as amazing and I have seen so much and feel I now understand why I feel have my issues. I've seen things I had forgotten and felt them as if they just happened.
I feel good after each time I do the daily exercise and feel good also after we chat on line. I feel I've achieved something and am going in the right direction.
I don't feel mentally or physically drained as I had before when I went to get help. Now I feel good and happy before it hurt so much that all it didn't was make me relive the abuse and hurt and not want to do any session again.
She is great. Very easy to talk to her and really helpful.
