Katherine Tessler, LCSW
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Mexico, with 6 years of direct therapy experience. I received my BA from University of California, Irvine and my MSW from University of Southern California. While a lot of my experience has been with mood disorders (with focus around depression and anxiety), I approach every client with an open mind and heart, and strive to always create a safe and inviting space. My clients bring in a range of issues and have varying ideas of what they would like to change about themselves and/or their lives -- but they all have one thing in common, and that is motivation for change. Therapy can, and should, be a place for self-reflection and self-improvement and I am here to support that process.
I believe in "meeting the client where they are". This means I don't only work from a single theoretical standpoint, but rather formulate a treatment plan with the client that is based on their history and needs. I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, Interpersonal Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT.
The first step is often the hardest step, but I encourage you to reach out today! I am excited to go on this journey with you.
