About me

Hi, welcome! My name is Dr. Kate Wilsey, please call me Kate, and I am a clinical psychologist (licensed in Virginia) with 12+ years of education, professional experience, and specialty training. I am passionate about working with clients who have CPTSD and/or trauma and traumatic invalidation. Thus, I have extensive training in evidence-based trauma therapies, couples therapy, relationship therapies, and anger management. I gained the bulk of my training working with Veterans and Service Members across the US (literally, from Boston, MA to Tacoma, WA), but I also worked in primary care as a health psychology trainee on a grant in my doctoral program. I’m passionate about working with lgbtqia+ clients, People of Color, and Women.

In a world where judgment is so prevalent, I recognize that it’s not easy to feel safe or to trust others. So, I am patient and strive to always create a balanced therapeutic alliance where we can work together towards a common, shared goal in a nonjudgmental way. You’re here, reading my profile. That means you’ve taken time, thought about about therapy, and are deciding on a therapist. I hope that you feel proud of yourself for the steps you’ve taken thus far- it’s not easy. I hope to meet you! - Kate.
