About me

Serving extraordinary individuals, couples and families has been a privilege for me in my 20+ years of post-graduate experience as a clinical social worker. Beginning with the assumption that all people are inherently worthy of dignity and respect, we work together to explore how your values and your strengths can be leveraged to increase your joy and your overall life satisfaction. Mentally, spiritually, physically and financially -- you lead this journey as I accompany you and reflect back what I observe.

I am a licensed clinical social worker who is licensed in Illinois
and California with over 23 years of experience working in mental health. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and the ups and downs of parenting. I have also helped many people who have experienced traumatic loss and who have survived violent crime.

My counseling style is warm and open to identifying solutions and strengths. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, family systems and strengths-based strategies. We will collaborate in order to create a treatment plan that meets your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

"We cannot make another person change their steps to an old dance, but if we change our own steps, the dance no longer can continue in the same predictable pattern."

I’ve been Kathleen for my therapy sessions since November. She has been very supportive, welcoming, and validates my emotions. She’s honest and has made me feel more understood than my own parents have. She’s a fantastic counselor/therapist and I’m very thankful for everything she has taught me this far. I highly recommend seeing Kathleen.

Working with Kathleen has been truly impactful.
She has helped me in ways that I didn't know I needed help, she's always been a wonderful listener, supporting me every step of my journey these past few months and truly understanding my needs and working to help me improve my life.
She's becoming almost like a friend, a confidant, someone who is truly worth spending time with.

I can't recommend working with her enough. Thank you for everything Kathleen! :)

I'm comfortable with the concept/environment that's offered by the Betterhelp services so far. Still trying to navigate the therapist/client relationship and give-and-take. I'm a difficult person to draw out and I'm still trying to find a 'comfort zone' in which to be more revealing and forthcoming to my therapist in order for that person to help me.

Kathleen is always so supportive throughout our counseling . I felt very comfortable to open up to her and talk about my struggles. She offered me different kinds of method such as meditation to help with my anxiety and some psychological principle to help me understand how my thinking could affect my action. Her professional knowledge really helped me to view my problems from a different prospective and therefore I really enjoyed working with her.

Kathleen is great. As someone who does not regularly share vulnerabilities or personal issues I was slightly hesitant at first to work with someone, but Kathleen immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. It's easy to feel like your own personal issues are insurmountable or permanent, but with Kathleen's help I have started to feel less intimidated by taking on tasks and goals that address not just my mental and emotional health, but that extend out into different parts of my life. I have really enjoyed working with her and would definitely recommend!

Kathleen was a great counselor. I came in thinking I was just there to kick an unhealthy habit, but as time went on we really dug at the root of these problems. This improved my confidence, made me feel closer to those around me, and helped me deal with the uncertainty of graduating university during COVID. I couldn’t have asked for a better counselor!
