Kathryn Blount, LPC
About me
I live and work in North Carolina and have worked in the helping profession field since 1999. I received my BS in Psychology in 1997 and my Masters in Education with a concentration in Counseling in 2006. I have worked in several different roles including High Risk Intervention Technician for a mental health agency; Clinical Lead for Intensive In-Home Family Centered Therapy; Victim Assistance Coordinator for a well-known national service organization; and Student Support Counselor in an educational setting. I now own and operate a private practice in the mountains of North Carolina offering counseling as well as massage therapy.
My approach is holistic in nature and I work to bring all aspects of your life into treatment. I work best with clients who are contemplating change. My counseling philosophy comes from a person-centered, client-driven approach. I believe that each individual has the power to recognize what their therapeutic needs are and maybe even how to address them; I am here to provide gentle guidance and perhaps some different perspective to bring awareness to patterns of thought and behavior, therefore facilitating YOUR desire for change.
While I enjoy and feel competent working with both genders, I have a true passion for issues common to the female journey and feel a pull to focus my work on guiding women through struggles such as body image, self-esteem, and healthy lifestyle and relationship choices. I do welcome male clients and have experience in several male-specific areas of therapy as well.
I look forward to helping you move forward. Creating intention, identifying solutions, setting goals, and working to achieve your goals will get you where you want to be. I embrace the idea of "leading from behind" and will be behind you every step of the way.
