Katie Smith, LICSW
About me
I am a licensed clinician in Alabama with over five years of professional experience supporting children, adults, and families. I am passionate about meeting clients exactly where they are in life and providing a safe, judgment-free space for growth. My therapeutic style is grounded in a client-centered approach that honors each individual’s right to self-determination, personal values, and lived experiences.
As a strong patient advocate, I incorporate data, research, and evidence-based interventions to create meaningful and lasting change. My work focuses on helping clients better understand themselves, manage anxiety, build resilience, and develop practical tools they can immediately apply in their daily lives.
I have extensive experience working with ADHD across all ages, and I bring both clinical expertise and personal insight as the mother of a teen with ADHD. I understand the challenges families face and the incredible transformation that can occur with the right diagnosis and individualized treatment plan. Reflecting on my own child’s journey, I often share, “Once he received a diagnosis and started his treatment plan, he became more comfortable with who he is.” This perspective allows me to empathize deeply with parents and children while offering hope, direction, and realistic strategies.
Above all, I strive to help each client feel understood, supported, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
