Dr. Kayla Thorne, LCSW
About me
As a social worker, I quickly became passionate about mental health and therapy. I am drawn to help others through both their best and most difficult times. I aim to alleviate stress among students and others, while promoting a healthy lifestyle. I am thankful for the opportunity to listen to others’ stories and guide them through change.
I have received my Doctorate in Human Services, Master of Social Work, and Bachelor of Arts in sociology. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2025 and have provided therapy to children, teens, and adolescents since 2023 as a Supervisee in Social Work. I have also provided therapy to college-aged students since 2025. I focus on active listening, cognitive restructuring, and assigning homework between sessions to support continued growth.
I use a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach and have specialized training in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. I am also trained in Child Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI) to work with both children and their parents after a traumatic experience.
I believe in letting the client lead the topic of discussion at the beginning of the session to ensure they feel supported throughout the session. Throughout therapy, I will assist with helping you reach your overall goal and lessen any symptoms you may be experiencing.
