About me

Hello!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oklahoma with 15 years of experience helping clients and their families. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, addiction and recovery, domestic violence and grief/loss. I have experience working with children and families involved in the Child Welfare system. This includes foster and adoptive families, reintegrated biological families and mothers that have had children removed. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I have recent experience helping addicts recover from substance and behavioral addictions (pornography, gaming, food).
I have served in the US Air Force and I enjoy working with service members and spouses. I understand some of the unique challenges that military families face. My therapeutic style includes Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness/Meditation and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I believe that each client should find the right therapist for them. Do not be afraid to "try out" a few therapists to find a good match!
I am honest and forthcoming with my clients. I am gentle and compassionate but I do not "sugar coat" situations. I am usually direct and goal oriented because I want you to make progress and feel better soon! I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you.
What to expect in the first 1-3 sessions:
Typically, the first session is me getting to know you! I will want to know why you are seeking help, what have you tried before and how that worked. I may ask about your upbringing, current family/living situation, employment/education, supports or resources and interests. All of this info is vital for me to help you develop realistic goals and a plan to move forward. Once I get to know you, we can talk more about concerns and issues. This is usually in session 2. We will then work together to create goals and those goals will be on your "site" so you can refer to them anytime.
The BetterHelp platform has worksheets and info to help us. Sometimes this is a page to educate clients about a topic, sometimes there are questions to answer etc. Doing this between-the-sessions homework really helps you make progress and ensures that we can use our session time effectively. If you ever have questions or concerns, please let me know!
Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

Kelly is the first therapist that I've really connected with. She offers concrete solutions to my problems. She knows when to offer advice and when I just need her to listen. She validates my concerns without being patronizing.
I'm grateful I was matched with her.

Kelly is absolutely wonderful to work with. She's an excellent listener and is very insightful. Therapy can feel very overwhelming for a lot of people but she has an amazing ability to help you feel comfortable with her and having someone like Kelly as a therapist truly makes counseling a positive experience. <3
