About Me

I am a licensed professional counselor with board certification in the state of North Carolina, where I have practiced six years, collaborating with individuals and their loved ones to improve communication, relationships, and overall quality of life. I received my master of science in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from the University of North Carolina. I am involved in research on holistic healthcare and have co-authored articles exploring therapy treatments for individuals diagnosed with cancer and depression. I am also a certified BodyFlow (yoga/tai chi/pilates) instructor and am interested in helping you develop healthy habits, both physically and mentally.

I take a humanistic approach in the therapeutic alliance, as I believe all individuals--with the right environment and supports--are capable of actualizing their goals and progressing toward a meaningful life. My aim is to empower you and provide you with tools for building the confidence and motivation necessary to achieve goals that are congruent with your wants and values. Through the use of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, we will work together to recognize and target life stressors that may be contributing to disruptive feelings, including anxiety, depression, isolation, amotivation, inability to focus, etc.

The first steps toward change can be the hardest part of the process. I look forward to working with you as we explore your story and discover your strengths, creating a present that reflects your truest self.

Kelly is amazing. Ever since I started my sessions with her, she has been very respectful, understanding. totally open-minded to anything I talk about, and a great motivator. She also knows how to add jokes and puns when appropriate, of course, in order to lighten the mood. She has helped me evaluate things about myself that I didn't think needed evaluating, and I can tell that her help is pushing me towards positive change. Kelly is a great counselor to work with and has great techniques up her sleeve. I highly recommend her!
