About me

Greetings,
I want to thank you for choosing to receive guidance/counseling on whatever it is that brought you here.

I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist LMFT) in California, I also teach at my local community college. I began my counseling career in 2001 as drug and alcohol counselor, working in residential, outpatient detox, methadone clinic, jails, schools and since 2017, working with Native Americans. In 2009 I was encouraged by my supervisor, a psychiatrist, to go back to school and work with not just addiction, but people who have mental health disorders. A disorder or dis-order simply means a life or lives that are not in order. There is no shame and nothing to hide about mental health, by acknowledging it, it can be put back in order. After graduating California Lutheran University in 2011 and becoming licensed to practice psychotherapy under my MFT license, I chose to stay close to my roots of addiction, and treat co-occurring disorders. By choosing this path I gained valuable experience with just about every disorder ever known to humankind. Depression, mania, marriage and family problems, trauma, shame, guilt, personality disorders to name a few.

With over 35,000 hours of experience, and pre-covid ZOOM/online experience, I have the knowledge and capability to help a wide variety of people. I am considered an expert in Addiction, Co-Occurring, Anxiety, and Couples and Family therapy. In addition I have treated many other dis-orders with outcomes which managed or relieved symptoms altogether. I am highly skilled not just because of my academics and training, but because I have lived many of the disorders and regained order in my life. I have had hard-core addictions, divorce, family issues, a sibling death at age 7, parent with dementia, and an ongoing re-invention of self through my life-span.. Having the life experience provides me with insight and compassion that education does not teach.

I am from Southern California and currently live in far Northern California. I am married with three children, two who have served in the military (one still active duty). I have three large rescue dogs which keeps us active and busy.
