Kendrick Burden, LCSW
About me
Events don't cause what you feel, how you talk to you about these events does! Seeking help is difficult enough, and it's my job to make the process easier by offering the people I serve a warm, empathic, and safe place to address their challenges. If you are struggling with a particular issue or simply looking for a safe place to express yourself, I'm excited to begin the process with you.
I am Kendrick Burden, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker and trauma counselor specializing in the field of mental wellness. I have 13 years of experience as a general practitioner in a community-based outpatient mental health clinic providing individual, family, couples, and group therapy. My areas of expertise include depression, self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and health issues, domestic violence, and adjusting to many of the challenges life throws our way. I utilize a client-centered approach (meaning that YOU are the expert on you) that will allow you to identify your own strengths and resources, as well as cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches.
The best year of your life is when you take ownership of every problem and challenge in your life. Ownership is saying, here's what I have, what do I do with it, and how do I go forward. I'm here to help you take OWNERSHIP of your life.

Appreciative for the safe space to be unfiltered and not judged

Kendrick has helped in more ways than I can explain. These last 6 months have been the first of therapy for me, but also as a time to actually sit down and look at myself in the more, regarding self love and not beating myself up as much. I’ve learned a good bit about myself and how I’ve functioned over the last two years. I couldn’t thank him enough. My goal is to continue growing into the man I want to be and who God wants me to be. I want to continue meeting with Kendrick.
Also, BLACK MEN, therapy is needed in our community! It’s okay to be expressive and share what you feel!!

Kendrick helped me get through a very dark time in my life. I was going through the early stages of a Separation and Divorce when I realized I needed help. The sessions he created based around Cognitive Processing Therapy helped me to hold onto the good parts of myself as I was working through this difficult time and gave me tools change the way I view myself and the way I was moving through life. As Black man that was dealing with the stigma that "only crazy or mentally weak people need therapy", I am forever grateful that I was paired up with Kendrick.
