I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and I hold Masters Degrees in Clinical Counseling (MS) and a Masters in Clinical Social Work (MSW). I have Doctorate work in Disability and Equity in Education. I have worked as an Adjunct Professor teaching Graduate students for the Adler School of Professional Psychology, and I have supervised interns/externs. I have been a supervisor for investigations for the Illinois Department of Children and Family services for 10 years and worked also with the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Mental Health and Education, as well as teaching self defense. I was the Chief Clinician at Maryville Academy in 2012-2016 St. Vincent program. In 2014 I was ranked 9th in the United States in Shuri Ryu Karate. I have been certified with AFAA, I was a Diplomat with the National Institute of Sports Division of Counseling. I would describe my therapeutic approach as open, using humor, as I recognize therapy sessions should not solely focus on negative feelings. My clinical orientation is eclectic and I can fluidly merge multiple approaches such as behavioral, cognitive, relational, psychodynamic and Maslow theory. I specialize in treatment of trauma, and working with children, adolescents, alternative lifestyles, LGBTQ, and have Jungian dream analysis training. I prefer open ended and free flowing approaches that will include multiple modalities in sessions such as movement, games and artistic expressions. Besides fitness and karate as hobbies, I also enjoy creating art.

So far I have spent 1 month with Kennedy as my therapist and he has already been the most attentive and helpful therapist I have ever had. He is very easy to talk to and meets me at my level with both humor and understanding. He does all of this while challenging me to make changes and try new things. I will write more after we have spent more time but so far I would highly recommend Kennedy!

Great guy. Really knowledgeable and adaptable. Knows when i want to talk, knows when i want to discuss things seriously. Gives me little mental assignments to think about before our next session. Maybe i wish he was a little more responsive in terms of the messaging. But overall the best therapist i ever had in my life. Keep up the great work ken.

Definitely a good therapist, person and confident. Always has what’s best in mind for me and knows me too well sometimes. Definitely gives me advice on how to deal with my situations and how to stop myself when I get myself into difficult situations. Kennedy is very patient and really hears me out before giving his thoughts and advice. I’ve only been with him for less than a year and I feel like we’ve been speaking for years.

Working with Kennedy has been a journey, for sure! He is educated, with a quirky personality. He also has a great sense of humour, which he fruitfully employs as part of his therapy strategy. Ever since I started therapy with him I the feeling that I had known him my whole life. Kennedy gave me the tough love that I desperately needed to turn my life around. I would definitely work with him again and I would wholeheartedly recommend him as a therapist for people who enjoy intellectual puzzles and dark jokes, but also for those who need a kind soul to just listen and encourage them to make the changes they want to make.

I started the conversation telling Kennedy that I was skeptical about counseling and I liked how he was open minded and just chatted with me via messages first and made sure I knew the door was open for a video session. He was also quick on messages and was online for me during a day where I needed someone the most. I liked that he was straight forward, it showed to me that he actually cared. He is very friendly, easy to talk, and has unique 'homework' (we got into using art as a way to reduce the stress of my issues). I definitely recommend Kennedy.

Kennedy is a great therapist for me. He uses an easy and comforting tone, uses reasoning to make me draw my own conclusion and see things differently, and he is very honest while still being kind. He's a great therapist for anyone who likes to mull things over!
