My name is Kevin Farrell and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California (#22616). I have almost 20 years experience as a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist. I previously had a successful career in media and in my mid-30s I returned to school to obtain a Masters Degree in Social Work in order to find a more rewarding career path for myself. As a Psychotherapist, I have worked with a wide variety of adults and I use a range of therapeutic tools. I view therapy as a partnership and for me the most important aspect of therapy is the therapeutic alliance, which refers to the quality and strength of the collaborative relationship between client and therapist. This is strongest when there is agreement on goals and objectives. I work closely with each client to establish goals and achieve a strong alliance built on mutual trust.
I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy with reliance on core theoretical concepts from Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Existential Therapy, among others. I tend to emphasize solution-focused strategies that assist a client in understanding themselves, improving their problem-solving/coping techniques, and building resiliency for future challenges. I seek ongoing feedback and collaboration with clients to evaluate and improve a client's experience in therapy.
I have been told that my non-judgmental style engages people and they find me respectful, sincere, and easy to relate to. My primary goal with clients is to successfully address a client's challenges in order to improve overall quality of life.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Kevin Farrell. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I have been working with Kevin for the past year. In that time we have been able to tap into some core infrastructural familial issues I face. Having begun these sessions outside of a crisis time, Kevin an I are able to explore, with minimal anxiety and judgment, the many aspects of my emotional history and ways I relate to individuals in my life from a more objective manner. Kevin has provided a powerful third party outlook, kind understanding and has a keen perception that prompts thoughtful questions to further our work together. I highly recommend Kevin as a therapist for folks looking to tackle overarching themes in their lives or facing nuanced crisis. He is especially understanding and can relate deeply to those who identify as or are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I have only been seeing Kevin for a short time at this point in my therapy journey with betterhelp, but I can say that he is a great therapist. He is empathetic, kind, and has been a good sounding board for the issues I am wanting to work on. He listens without judgement and offers insights that are helpful in my processing and coping mechanisms. I highly recommend Kevin Farrell as a therapist to anyone, but especially older gay men like myself.
Kevin has without a doubt completely restored my faith in therapy (and possibly humanity) and has already transformed my life for the better, his professionalism and expertise is second to none, he frequently challenges my thinking and thought process and regularly provides me with a safe space to delve into the more deeper recesses of my mind to discuss difficult topics/experiences and I feel consistently seen & heard. Often I find myself leaving each session a little more happier, healthier and above all a more realised and understood version of myself with a bit more mental fortitude.
Im very pleased with my experience with Kevin

Kevin is a thoughtful, considerate and supportive therapist, and I always look forward to our sessions. Cannot recommend him highly enough.
Kevin is, to put it simply, the most empathetic therapist I've ever encountered. Not only is he very professional but also VERY human. That, combined with his vast experience, makes you feel safe from the moment you meet him.
Thank you, Kevin, I can't recommend you enough.
I reach out to him due to a health condition that left me homebound. His vast experience with
Kevin is a caring and supportive person, with great integrity, who offers perspective and insight. He helps me to understand things in new ways and verbalise feelings so I can handle them better. He is very human, which I can't say about other therapists I have had, and this means I feel safe and able to raise more complex/difficult thoughts and experiences. He offers challenge and also offers a lot of joy, which for me, is really important. Can't recommend him enough.
Kevin is a down to earth, very easy to talk to, friendly, understanding, and compassionate therapist.
