About me

My name is Kim Hibbard, I am Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Master's in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. I have a BA in Child Development and Psychology from Bethany University, Scott's Valley, CA. I am a member of the America Counseling Association and have training in various therapies, such Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy, and Person Centered Treatment. I have worked in the human services field for 40 years and as a counselor for 10 years. I have had various groups that I have counseled, children and teens, couples and individuals. I have done family counseling, military, and LGTBQ . Since each client is an individual and has their own needs and diagnosis the therapy and treatment plan will be personalized for the individual. I also have a person centered, loose approach and believe that the client is the expert in their lives. Therefore the client needs to be involved in their therapy and recovery. I hope to hear from you and look forward to meeting you.

She gives me the time and space to talk and say whatever I need to say. She's very kind and understanding and will message you to check up which I really appreciate. I'm really happy I got her as my therapist, I've had horrible experiences with therapists in the past and was very anxious about it but I feel safe with her.

I met with Kim for the first time and I really like her. She was very nice and easy to talk to and I could relate to her. She made the therapy feel like a pleasant conversation between friends, acquaintances, or colleagues while still being professional. I look forward to continuing to work with her. I also like her wide availability on workday evenings and her having time to meet each week. It is great to be able to schedule my therapy and have different therapy options.

I've been working with Kim for a few weeks now. She's been wonderful. When I just need to vent, she's an amazing listening ear. When I need to calm down, she's been a wonderful conversationalist. When issues are brought up, she brings a blend of personal experience and her trained expertise to give insight into the issue. She comes across as a competent professional, but also a very real person. For therapy, feeling like I'm talking to a wise, insightful, human being with a life of her own feels... I'm not sure how to phrase it... but more meaningful than talking to a doctor in a lab coat who prescribes solutions to my problems, if that makes sense. Thumbs up :)

Kim is a really great listener and I always feel like I am talking with a long time friend despite only seeing her 4 times so far.
