Sometimes you need help and can't manage all by yourself. Sometimes you need objective, compassionate, and professional advice that will help you gain insight and courage to make changes in your life so that can live a full and rewarding life. Sometimes you need to be reminded that you are a wonderful unique person with gifts and talents yet to be realized.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with a deep desire to help individuals overcome their mental and emotional problems using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach . Your thoughts are the drivers of who you are and what you can become and do. Negative thoughts can sabotage your life in many areas - your well being, your relationships, your career, your past, your present and your future. I would find it a pleasure to help you capture those negative thoughts, feelings and behavior patterns that keep you from your best using cognitive behavioral strategies that have been scientifically proven to be successful.
I also like to help my clients understand from a scientific perspective just what is going on in their brain-feelings-body in simple terms so that as they learn/practice coping skills that help them to make sense of the reasons they got stuck in the first place - and gain insight into learning/growing from their past pain.
I have been working in the mental health field for over 9 years. I graduated from The University of Houston-Victoria with a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology. I have gained my mental health experience at the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Psychological Division, Texana Center and Baylor College of Medicine.
I firmly believe that no matter who you are - what your age - it is never too late to go for your dreams. You are Unique! You have Purpose! Let me help you to uncover the wonderful parts of you that have been covered by the misfortunes that inevitably occur in life.

She has shown me ways to work on myself and to not continue to be a codependent person. Her words and guidance has been very helpful.
If you met me I seemed happy but felt stuck in my faith and life like I had hit a glass ceiling. I wanted more for my life and to embrace hope and a bright future.
Kimberley has helped me become aware of what was victimizing me and what was happening in my brain. I now can apply the love God has for me and Self-love to apply to my future. I thought self control was only purity but it is more than that as I now have self control and choice over my deep thoughts. ❤️
I've been working with Kimberly Maxwell off and on for quite some time. She's very accommodating when it comes to our appointments. We work well together and Kimberly usually gives me a few options on handling a problem I might have. I like the fact that her faith is strong and that she uses it in her counseling. Which makes a big difference in how successful our sessions are. I would recommend Kimberly Maxwell to anyone in need of help.
She is absolutely wonderful. She loves to help meet your reason you came to better help. She loves to crack a few good jokes when appropriate which in my case I loved. I needed that occasional smile with how deep some of my scars and battles were. She worked well around my 2 jobs and was understanding when I was running a little behind due to work. It was easy to talk to her and with her with her sweet and very genuine caring personality. She felt like a close mom or older sister looking out for me and there for me in every way possible. I have no doubt she would have hugged me a few times if it were possible. She is still my councilor, but a friend/sister/mom. If it makes sense, she balanced all of that well on how and when to respond this or that way. She would see where I'm at in a situation I'm sharing with her and I liked how open and honest she was about other possibilities, perspectives etc in situation to help me understand more than just where I'm coming from. She really is helpful and loving. She is there for her clients 1000% muah :-*
I really like Kimberley; she has lots of patience with me. I'm a mess and I can tell the difference when I am able to work with her and when I'm not able. Sometimes I can't pay and I can tell that I'm not the same, not nearly as positive. She's a great help to me. The counselors through my insurance do NOTHING except prescribe meds, there is not talking, no listening, just pills. That's why I like this better; I get to have an exchange of words which is more of what I need instead of drugs.
Life changing experience!
Amazing! Really listens and helps over solutions. Provides tools to educate and practice better habits.
Kimberley is helpful, kind, and always there. Definitely recommend.
Kimberley has helped me in just a span of a couple of weeks. She knows what I need even when I don't think I need it. She's supportive and understanding toward how I'm feeling and what I'm going through.
I have been so blessed in having Kim as my counselor, and have recommended BetterHelp to many people.
Kim has been a great help to me. She seems to really understand my situation and has truly been an inspiration in my lowest time. I would highly recommend her as a counselor.
I really love her way that she helps me deal with these outbreaks I've had.
Kimberley Smith-Maxwell is caring and understanding. She easily explains how emotions and behaviors are related together and has helped put me on the path to better eating habits. She interacts not just during session, but if I send a message or finish a worksheet she's there to cheer me on or help me through navigate. I'm very impressed with the format of Betterhelp and so thankful for this platform for counseling.
Kimberly is a fantastic counselor. I look forward to our sessions despite my depression, which generally causes me to never look forward to anything. I highly recommend working with her.
Kim has helped me in so many ways! She's been there to listen and lend an ear. She is an amazing counselor and anyone who is able to get her is very fortunate!
She is fantastic. She really listens and helps me understand my issues from a more positive perspective and it really has helped me become a more positive person.
Kim responded to my request once I was registered. I had not sought out counseling before so she made me feel at ease. Once we communicated she understood my needs. I appreciated her input and suggestions.
I really like Kim. She’s understanding and is helping me a lot help and come with myself and what I’m going through. A very wonderful person.
I like having Mrs Maxwell as my counselor because I don't feel judged for being in the place that I was when I do first started counseling through better help. I told her I've seen unusual things before and that I've been through some visually and mentally challenging events that I usually don't feel comfortable talking about with anybody else as it would make me feel that I would be a freak or an outcast for being mentally ill the way that I had been before, and even then when I talk about what I've experienced, I feel listened to, I feel considered, and I feel comfortable to mention that I feel I'm actually getting better. Talking about what's going on with me through BetterHelp helps me build a sense of understanding through, according to Maxwell, scientific approaches to understanding what really goes on in my mind.
Kim is my voice of reason. She knows what I'm trying to get across and knows exactly what to say. She nurtures without being a coddler. I am already a better person by working with her.
She was a wonderful counselor and really gave me insight to what I am going through. She always responded in a timely manner and addressed any questions or concerns I had. She really understood my situation and gave me methods to cope with everything I am going through. I would recommend her to anyone.
Very understanding and helpful.
Kim came to my aid at a low point in my life when my dad was ill and slipping into dementia that included saying some hurtful things to me. I was able to talk through, via texting at my request, the story and have found it relieved the anxiety I was experiencing. I found a compromise with him that allows me to visit with him when my sister is there - she calls me on FaceTime and I get a chance to visit with him. But I've removed myself from trying to listen to him when he slips into dementia and i try to make sense of what he is saying only to realize that he isn't thinking clearly. I feel like I have peace again thanks to the Lord using Kim in my life. I highly recommend her if you are struggling with an issue. She is compassionate and thoughtful.
In the short time I have been in contact with her, I have found her to have a quick response time, to have a good feel for my situation and primary concerns, and to be truthful in her assessment of the issues we have discussed. I plan to continue my time with her as it has helped me in a very short period to start turning things around in my life.
Kimberly is very attentive, responsive, and resourceful. I feel like my issues are definitely taken care of with her help.
Working with Kimberley these past couple of months has been amazing. I've learned things about my own thoughts, emotions and feelings that I didn't even know about myself because nobody has ever thought to ask me the questions that she did. She's taught me and helped me to understand my thoughts and emotions, accept them, rewire them, combat them when I need to. She's helped me to be able to live my life and feel my emotions, all of them, in a healthy way, instead of resorting to being numb and not allowing myself to feel anything at all like I've done in the past.
Miss Kim is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am slowly learning and healing a lot because of her. I am blessed to have her in my life.
