About Me

Hello and Welcome!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Florida and Colorado with significant experience in trauma therapy with children, adolescents, and adults, and a strong background in severe and persistent mental illness, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and crisis intervention. I obtained both of my degrees, a Master's in Social Work and a Bachelor's in Psychology, from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. The majority of my post graduate experience has taken place in sunny, South Florida, however, I just recently moved to the beautiful state of Colorado. My professional experiences in both states have allowed me to obtain exposure in working with a very diverse clientele population, including but not limited to varied socioeconomic, cultural, and religious/ ethic-minded groups, including the LGBTQ population.

I believe effective and efficient treatment comes from a client-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused approach that looks at an individual's, couple's, or family's source(s) of pain through a trauma-lens. I believe that life throws many curveballs throughout our lifetime, testing our mental and physical stability and offsetting our natural ability to problem-solve and cope. I believe that in these times, help may be needed- which is where I come in! From my perspective, the client is their own expert at improving and fulfilling their life. My role as a therapist is to assist you in exploring and re-discovering your innate coping tools and natural strengths that can empower you to overcome your current problems, be prepared for future ones, and instill a sense of hope and worth in your life. In doing so, my primary approaches to treatment include Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment, and Mindfulness-based modalities; however the overall treatment approach is catered and designed to meet the specific needs of the individual, as no two clients are alike.

It takes immense courage to accept that there is a problem, and even greater courage to seek help for it. It is exciting that you have already begun to take initiative in improving your life by visiting and signing up for BetterHelp. I look forward to working with you in the continued process, while walking beside you on your journey to a more rewarding and satisfying life!

Krista has amazing counseling skills. The amount of improvement I've accomplished in six months is remarkable. I'm getting close to be who I want to be because of her. Thank you, Krista.

I am so pleased with Krista. From day one she was able to understand me and identify the root of my problems. I love how she guides me and I feel one more part of my mind and heart healing after each session. I love her flexibility on how we go about communicating. She is amazing!!
