About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois and I have been practicing for 16 years. I received my Master of Social Work from Loyola University in Chicago in 2002 with a specialty in Children and Families. I have worked a variety of different venues such as agencies, schools and residential treatment facilities and have experience in both individual and systems therapy. Treatment modalities that I use are Analytical, Cognitive-Behavioral, Strengths-based, Solutions-Focused therapy depending on which combination suits my client. Some areas in which I specialize are issues related to anxiety, low self-esteem, issues related to divorce/separation and family concerns.

In my approach, I allow for my client to direct the treatment plan and formulate their own treatment goals, which can change throughout treatment. The hallmark of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, so it is extremely important that the client feels a great level of trust and support. I believe that gaining insight into why behaviors occur can help to change behaviors. Overall, I see the therapist's role as one of support, guidance, active listening and empowering the client to make positive changes. In my time as a therapist, I have done work with clients who deal with issues ranging from very severe mental health struggles to less severe issues related to new adjustments in life such as job changes or changes in location. I have had many experiences that have shaped my outlook and have strengthened my ability to be empathic towards my clients. Some of those experiences are divorce, being a single mother, endless dating, and being a professional in the helping field, managing life after loss and many others. I show much of myself in my work as a therapist as I think it is important to the therapeutic relationship to show a genuine self.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Krista Klund. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I was skeptical about virtual therapy at first, but after meeting Krista I quickly changed my mind. Krista took the time & effort to truly understand everything I was talking to her about and helped me look at my current situations from a different perspective. I always appreciate when I leave with “homework” to do from a therapist because it helps me stay mindful of certain things until next time. Krista would leave me with a question or something to think about or journal about and it was super insightful for me. It felt as if I had known/worked with her for years - she always made me feel comfortable and checked in with me which I thought was awesome. If you are paired with Krista Klund, you’re in luck...I promise!!

Krista is a very compassionate and intuitive person who, in a short period of time, helped me to better understand and get over certain hangups in my life. A work in progress but better already. Thank you!

Krista is one of the kindest and smartest people I’ve ever met. In just a few short months we’ve made great progress on a number of issues. I am so much happier overall because I know we can tackle any issue that comes my way together. She offers great tips, advice, and words of encouragement.
