About me

Hello and welcome to betterhelp! My name is Kristen Balan DiBella. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in the state of Indiana. I have worked with clients with a wide range of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, family conflict, grief and loss, crises, suicidality, chronic health issues, perinatal mental health issues, parenting challenges, school and career challenges, OCD and ADHD. I work with individuals, couples and families; adults, adolescents and children alike. I have over 13 years of experience working as a psychotherapist across outpatient, private practice, hospital, school, crisis department and in both rural and urban settings. I received my BA in Psychology at Marian University, Indianapolis, Indiana in 2002 and my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY in 2005.

Research shows that one of the biggest indicators of therapeutic success is the relationship between client and therapist. For that reason, I invite you to peruse my and other profiles in hopes of finding a therapist that's the best fit for you or your family. Marriage and Family Therapists view difficulty and success contextually. We understand that no person functions in a vacuum, rather we influence and are influenced by the systems and relationships in which we participate (society, community, school, work, family, peers, etc.). Therefore, we believe that many difficulties begin in relationship and can be best resolved in relationship. I strongly believe in the healing power of authentic human connection and thus in the therapeutic relationship.

My counseling style is warm, empathetic, client-centered and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach is strengths based, combining systemic, cognitive-behavioral, structural, and solution focused counseling. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It can take a great deal of courage to seek help in living a more authentic, fulfilling, healthy and happy life. When you are ready to take that step I am here to provide support and empowerment. It's a privilege to be invited on part of your journey. I look forward to working with you.
