Hi, my name is Kristen Kasperek and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois and a National Certified Counselor. I have 7 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples in individual and group settings. I worked as a Psycho Social Rehabilitation Therapist for quite some time where I became certified in OCD as well as PTSD. I have vast experience working with those who suffer from chronic mental illness including Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, depression, and anxiety. I also have a wealth of experience working with those struggling with self-esteem, self-worth, poor relationships, and grief. I enjoy providing support in a variety of ways to my clients to help remind them of how important they are. I currently work with undergraduate and graduate students helping them to discover their true selves through the help of MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory and putting that into play by aiding them in selecting individually appropriate degree programs. I have learned in my years as a Career Counselor that people often stay in ill fitting jobs because they don't see a way out. I love nothing more than to help someone recognize their passion and guide them towards making it a reality. I enjoy assisting my clients with self discovery, the job search process, as well as resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and negotiation tactics. No matter where you are in your life, I believe you should be doing what you love and I want to help you get there.
My approach is to develop a relaxed, non-threatening, and non-clinical professional relationship with my clients. I recognize that the first step to a better life is often the most difficult. I help my clients with that first step and the path that follows. Together, we develop individualized strategies that produce results and lead to a more fulfilling life.
In terms of my education, I earned my Master's Degree in Community Counseling with a focus in Mental Illness as well as Career Counseling. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology with a minor in Sociology.
If you are searching for direction, inner peace, or need help getting past an obstacle in your personal or professional life, I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.

Kristen is amazing. I've been working with her for a long time and she's been an amazing source of care and guidance.
Kristen is compassionate and just "real". She talks to you like you've known her for years. I came to BetterHelp because I needed a non-biased person to talk to about some big forks in the road I have coming up and it's been really nice working with her. She's been a positive coach in my life and has been someone I value talking to about things I couldn't talk about with anyone else. I would definitely recommend her to other people who need a dose of positive friendship, laughter and encouragement in their life.
Kristen is incredibly insightful, can cut through the noise and identify the core issue and help you unravel it. I very much recommend her!
She is amazing! From the first session, she made me feel better and helped me believe in my ability to do things again and to help me love myself again.
Kristen is great. She is always checking in and making sure I’m ok. In the short time we’ve been working together I’ve felt much better. I was skeptical of online counseling but Kristen changed my mind!
I am extremely pleased to have met someone like Kristen. She listens and is honest. That’s something that is difficult to find in a counselor - someone who is upfront about the problem and is able to tell you the truth about the matter. Kristen always reaches out to me to ask how my day is going or to wish me a good weekend, sometimes all you need is someone to say these few words to you to know they care. I am glad to be working with Kristen, she is relatable and understanding.
Kristen has been very caring and understanding. She has really helped me a lot with my anxiety and dealing with stress. She always makes sure to check in with you and make sure you're doing well, I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Kristen always responds to me as quickly as she can and I appreciate all her help! We’ve been working together now for a few weeks and I feel confident in my ability to tell her anything!
Kristen is very caring and understanding. She’s been so supportive and checks in regularly. I would highly recommend her to anyone that is going through grief or needing someone to confide in.
Kristen has been amazing. I was hesitant at first with online therapy but she has made it so easy to open up. I would highly recommend her to anyone that is wanting to work through their issues.
Kristen Kasperek is calm and conscientious therapist. I feel as though I am sitting in a room with her and we are talking one-on-one. She provides me with helpful tools to solve my problems.
Kristen is thoughtful, experienced and deeply skilled. She does a great job listening, providing new insight and responding in a timely manner. I love working with her and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to grow personally in life, love and career.
Kristen has been incredibly comforting in a time that I'm feeling a little lost or confused about certain situations in my life. I can't thank her enough for letting me vent and reaching out to me to keep up consistency in communication, which I think is very important. It's invaluable to have someone that you feel that you can reach out to at anytime without judgement.
I signed up for online counseling during a very chaotic period in my life. i've only been speaking to Kristen for a bit, but she has been very helpful and patient with me even when i feel like i'm being manic. She will check up on me and doesn't mind when I'm messaging her basically... all the time. She helps me to see past my present and to the future, and how to move on to that future, and for that I am very grateful! She's cool, you'll be lucky to have her.
Kristen is an amazing therapist. Having tried another online service before coming to BetterHelp, my expectations were, well, a little jaded. I’ve only been working with her for less than two months (I think?) but I’ve never felt more empowered—or grateful for therapy’s role in my life. She’s an incredible listener and is SO good about reaching out to me and not just waiting for me to message her in crisis mode. I have a medically fragile daughter and tend to be somewhat inconsistent with the timeliness of my responses but I truly feel that Kristen is invested in helping me mold the best possible life for myself. If you’re lucky enough to end up working with Kristen, you will see exactly how beneficial a good therapist can be. She’s a game changer and a true asset to BetterHelp.
Kristen always gives great guidance during uneasy times.
Kristen has been phenomenal in listening to me my concerns, and really alleviating the kinds of self-doubt I had about myself and my situation. She really has a way of reaching you, and does very well at recognizing what's bothering you. She immediately begins to move the ball forward on healing. If you ever get Kristen, you really won't be let down.
