Kristen Martin, LMFT
About me
Hi! I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in the state of California. I have been providing mental health services for over 6 years now and I am so passionate about helping people to make their lives better. Much of my experience has involved treating clients who are facing depression and anxiety, substance use, impulsive behaviors, low motivation, poor self-esteem, and general relational problems. I also have extensive experience supporting people that struggle with trauma, exposure to abuse/assault, and self-harm.
First and foremost, I take a person-centered approach. I recognize that each of my clients are strong, capable people, and my role is to provide support and accountability so their natural strengths can be better utilized in whatever situation they find themselves. In addition, I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. I also have experience serving clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and strive to be open to, and aware of, my clients' specific cultural needs. I always work collaboratively with my clients and use open dialogue, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to tailor my services to each client's needs.
I recognize how difficult it can be to reach out for help and I will always ensure that those that reach out to me will find respect, understanding and competency. I look forward to working with you!
