About Me

Greetings! I am a certified counselor who works with clients on issues such as communication, control, relationships with self and others, planning and decision-making, self-esteem, coping with changes, and substance abuse. I'm person-centered in my style . I respect my clients and they determine what topics we cover in therapy and how deeply they want to delve into their issues. No matter who you are or where you've been in life, you are important. Your thoughts, feelings and beliefs are valuable guides in the therapeutic process and I am here to help you and support you.

I draw from treatment modals such as strengths-based, solution focused lens where my clients and I work together to develop a treatment plan that accomplishes my clients goals. Through cognitive-behavioral therapy I assist clients in exploring relationships between, thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Through CBT, clients reveal the dysfunctional thoughts that lead to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. I support clients as they try new communication styles, coping mechanisms, mindfulness work, and emotional regulation. Clients can practice how they address issues with loved ones in my presence and I will provide honest feeback.

I live outside of Detroit, Michigan. My hobbies include cooking, yoga, traveling to new places, hiking with my husband and our two dogs. I've experienced many therapies and have had several therapists myself. I enjoy learning about myself and others. Finding the right therapist takes time and courage. With that being said, if you feel you are ready to take the next steps toward a life you enjoy, I am here to support you and walk alongside you celebrating your accomplishments and encouraging through the light and dark times. Change takes time and effort, but it is worth it. I check messages Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST I will reply to you promptly.

I have never felt more comfortable sharing my thoughts, feelings, and emotions with someone before. Not only does she validate what is going through my head, but she also provides feedback that forces me to think in ways that I hadn't prior to our conversation. The main reason I am here is because I feel like I have used all of the tools in my toolbox to feel better and they are not working anymore. Kristin helps me to find new tools or new ways to use the tools I already have to fix my issues and difficulties myself. All in all, I am thoroughly impressed with how exceptional she is at her job and I will continue my sessions with her for the foreseeable future.

Kristin is a FANTASTIC therapist. Talking to her feels like talking to a friend who gives really great advice. She guides the conversation in a really productive way and if she ever doesn't understand what I'm talking she asks great questions to get there. The only issue is I wish she was available more.
