About me

Hello! My name is Kristin, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina with over ten years of experience providing therapy services. I have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including: individual and group outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient therapy with community-based interventions, and treatment teams serving individuals with co-occurring disorders. I currently also serve as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte in 2013 with my MA in Counseling and have enjoyed working with a variety of individuals since.

My approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma-informed and humanistic: I believe each individual has their own unique set of strengths, abilities, and experiences which are equally valuable. I also believe that each individual deserves a safe and non-judgmental space to explore ideas about themselves and how they fit in the world (unconditional positive regard). My hope in working with you is that I can support you through your own process of self-discovery and improved self-efficacy (knowing you are capable of healing and working towards your goals).

My therapeutic style draws from several different treatment modalities, which I use interchangeably to meet your needs. These include Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Each of these modalities offers strategies we can use together to help you identify your own personal values, hope and motivation, as well as assist you in learning ways to challenge the inner beliefs and dialogue that may be acting as barriers to your self-esteem and confidence.

Let me know if you have any questions. Finding a counselor you feel connected with is important.

Kristin came into my life at a time I desperately needed help processing some traumatic events in my life. She has been so helpful in making me feel validated, seen and supported in being human and life's inevitable traumas. She provides constructive feedback, and gives me loads of tools, and resources to work on what I need and want to work on. I am so grateful I have found Kristin, she is the best therapist Ive had.

Kristin Meadows is very knowledgeable, supportive and offers another perspective. She responds quickly to messages, has a video appointments available in the evening. Shares helpful materials to read or watch or even listen to in a podcast and they are very helpful. It’s only been a few weeks, but I look forward to working with her.
