About Me

Hello! My name is Kristina Durene. I am a mental health counselor licensed in the state of Washington with approximately 11 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, interpersonal and relationship issues, parenting and family problems, career challenges, and health and wellness challenges. I have worked with many individuals who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. In addition I have both professional and lived experience working with military veterans and family members.

As I strive for authenticity in all my interactions with clients, my counseling style is warm and interactive. I am a firm believer that health is holistic and not one dimensional; that we are mind, body and spirit. As such, I will take an integrative approach that explores all areas of health as they may impact emotional, mental and spiritual health. I believe in treating each client with dignity, respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and holistic and integrative therapies. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your individual and specific needs.

I honor your courage to pursue a more fulfilling and joy-filled life and to take the first steps towards making those changes. If you are ready to take those steps I am here to support, encourage and empower you. It is my greatest joy to walk with clients as they come into alignment with who they are purposed and called to be.

I look forward to working with you!

Kristina has been a God send. She really listens to what I’m saying and hears me. She’s also quick to take it all in and then give really really good advice. I like advice! She’s also compassionate and understanding. I’m especially thankful for her understanding of children and the issues they struggle with, which has been a big resource for me as a parent. I have enjoyed and found each counseling session super helpful and encouraging.

Written by E.R. on Dec 03, 2019 after counseling with Kristina for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, eating disorders, self esteem, and coping with life changes

Kristina is very down to earth and very warm in her approach. For the longest time I was afraid to find a counselor for the fear that I wouldn't find someone to connect to. I liked Kristine right away! She makes you feel like you matter, and is great when it comes to responding to my messages! I cant wait to do more sessions in the future!

I just started counseling recently and already Kristina has made me feel so comfortable with the process and not ashamed of asking for help. I feel like she truly listens and has great advice that I wouldn’t ever think of. And she is great about checking in every couple of days. She has already started to make me feel more calm and better about myself.

We are just getting started, but Kristina has been extremely supportive so far, with frequent email contacts between live sessions. I appreciate that she initiates the contact, in addition to responding when I reach out. She has a warm, friendly, kind approach, and sincere listening and feedback skills. I look forward to continuing to work with her.
