Latavia Agada

About Me

Hello! My name is Latavia and I am looking forward to working with you! I have just under 10 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. My primary focus is in trauma, depression, anxiety, life adjustments, acculturation, grief and loss, and multicultural issues. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, motivational interviewing among other treatment modalities to support my clients and I hope that we can work to process feelings, negative thoughts, and life issues together. I want you to know that one of my goals in therapy is to create a safe place to discuss difficult feelings and issues. I strive for this space to be nonjudgmental, free, and collaborative. Changes can be difficult to navigate, but nevertheless, people, although challenging, find different ways to adapt. Adapting can be one step at a time, because sometimes that is all that we can handle. Let’s figure out the most pressing issues that are weighing on you and develop some ways to prioritize, challenge and/or cope with these changes. I want you to know that there is no wrong answer and no pressure to come up with an immediate answer. If you ever feel that something does not feel right in our therapeutic relationship, I encourage you to say something. Your voice matters and your sessions are a great opportunity for you to use your voice and practice what you need to say. If you feel like you may need a different therapeutic approach or even a different therapist at any time, please let me know so that I can assist you in getting what you need. That is just one way that I promote self advocacy.

Latavia pays great attention to detail and keeps good memory of prior conversations to help with future sessions. She is very supportive with a calm welcoming demeanor. She provides helpful guidance and“toolkits” for future use, when applicable. Additionally, she allows her clients to discuss things at their own speed, allowing for trust to be established and overall ease of conversation. Latavia is great at what she does and has been tremendously helpful!

Latavia is incredibly thoughtful, soft spoken, and kind. Her measured responses are clearly delivered with the utmost respect, and they are always pertinent to the conversation.

Latavia's schedule allows for a meriad of time slots and mediums, making my experience with her easy and workable around my schedule. I cannot say enough good things.
