I am a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a love for the art of engagement in the work of therapy with individuals, families, and groups. I have experience working with adults, families, children, adolescents, and providing group based clinical interventions.
My areas of clinical focus are individuals with substance abuse issues; serious mental illness diagnoses; family and role related issues; children and adolescents displaying behavioral difficulties; behavioral modification/interventions; trauma survivors, with a special focus in working with victims of human trafficking; and issues specific to both women and adolescent girls.
My practice is guided by the bio-psychosocial model and an awareness of the interconnected relationship of brain-based responses to psychological functioning or dysfunction with a special concentration on the effects of trauma both in childhood and adulthood related to mental health issues. I have a particular interest in providing therapeutic interventions that reflect a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) informed practice with the intention of increasing my training in this particular modality and a goal of being fully trained to provide DBT adherent clinical services.
Previously, I have provided clinical services in multiple settings to include those such as a residential program, the acute psychiatric care setting, a partial hospitalization program, emergency services with a local Community Service Board, and an adolescent crisis shelter.
My strengths as a clinician and effectiveness as a therapist are founded on an ability to see every clinical interaction as an opportunity to establish and strengthen the therapeutic relationship; the philosophy that accurate and thorough assessment/diagnosis is essential for understanding; high ethical standards; an attitude that seeks out and values collaboration; my belief in the ability for each person to find their recovery no matter the circumstance; and a love for providing therapeutic clinical services.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Laura Cahill. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Laura Cahill is the best. She spends the time needed with you and explains things so you can understand them. She is NOT judgmental at all. She is very knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend her to anyone.
Laura is super easy to talk to she definitely is a professional shes a perfect fit for me but its important before choosing a therapist to make sure they specialize in what you need and shes on the ball!
She’s honestly amazing. I’ve never felt more excited to actually go to therapy and have never connected this well to a therapist
Just started my time with her but she seems awesome, listens, and is very knowledgable! Willing to work with me and easy to talk/open up to, feels like I'm talking to an old friend.
wonderful caring therapist i couldnt ask for more
Laura is different from most other therapists I’ve had in that she really tries to understand and provide real solutions to the issues I may be going through. Meeting with her feels like one long journey rather than a series of disjointed interviews. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to know her and allow her to know me.
Laura is so kind and understanding and knowledgeable.
You are awesome and know your stuff
Laura gets it! She has respectfully and diligently facilitated me through my healing journey. She is patient, kind, smart and able to tailor her knowledge in a way that makes me feel both welcomed and empowered.
She's awesome! If you are searching for someone look no further. She "gets" her client s without being overly technical
Laura is a lifesaver. The space she creates for you to talk and express is so welcoming. She's so genuine and has helped me in many ways in understanding my brain, and helping show me the way on the path of healing.
Very knowledgeable and allows time to process
Laura is great! She is very encouraging, listens, and asks great questions to get the ball rolling. I really enjoy her empathy and humor. She's not pushy and let's me go at my own pace.
Yes Laura is a good therapist and understands everything I tell her I think she is a great fit for me
Awesome overall! Caring, funny, intelligent, lots of good info/practices...
Laura quickly caught on to my concerns and stressors and was able to figure out exactly how my brain worked in a way that allowed her to treat me as an individual, rather than how someone could treat the situation. It is clear that she listens and is quick to figure out just the right thing to recommend. She hits the nail on the head everytime without hesitancy. She is a highly knowledgeable therapist and I feel lucky to have been paired with her
Laura was a great listening and very easy to talk to. She has a sweet and gentle approach and makes you feel safe to share your experiences with her. Although we only had one video session, she was able to give me good advice and put my mind to ease. She is definitely a therapist I would continue seeing!
Very relaxed and easy to talk to, with a lot of knowledge in her field .
Laura has been wonderfully encouraging and has listened to my thoughts. She's provided insight and given me ideas on how to become stronger mentally.
So far so good. We have only had one session but she’s very personable and I am glad to continue to work with her
She knew exactly what I was looking for.
