About Me
Fluent in Spanish with education, training, and experience in therapy models such as CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I selectively integrate a variety of goal-oriented, solution-focused, and person-centered techniques into a uniquely individualized treatment approach for individuals, couples, and families. My multicultural clinical expertise includes treating individuals of all ages depression, anxiety, panic attacks, eating disorders, gender identity, sexual identity, adjustment, anger management, personality disorders, and grief.
My training in EMDR Therapy allows me treat an array of PTSD including single-event PTSD, complex PTSD (disorder of extreme stress) and Developmental Trauma Disorder. I counsel adult victims who have experienced sudden traumatic loss, childhood trauma, violent crimes, domestic abuse, addictions, motor vehicle accidents, and veterans of combat.
My approach to multicultural counseling integrates Eastern approaches to mindfulness, Western approaches to spirituality, and for my younger clients I enjoys integrating play and/or art therapy into the psychotherapy process. Each person is a unique individual deserving of a unique individualized treatment plan. "One size does not fit all."

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Laura Valdes-Borsum. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Laura is very welcoming in appointments and friendly!
Has helped me realize the main issues causing my depression and provided many helpful suggestions and techniques for dealing with those issues.
She is a great listener and helps with my depression and anxiety.
She is very intelligent and helps me understand why I feel the way I do. She has given me things other therapists haven't, like concrete coping mechanisms I have now used in my daily life.
I’m off to a great start with Laura!
Laura is really helping work through navigating life. She works with me to understand what my challenges are that week and then she offers me a different perspective than I have considered. One thing I really enjoy about working with Laura is that I feel as though she's not just helping resolve issues, she's helping my live a happier life.
She is a great listener. I feel heard whenever we speak. I love that she encourages me to write about any and everything throughout the week and makes herself available to respond. I have already started exploring areas in my life that I didn’t even realize I needed work on. I actually enjoy going to therapy every week.
