I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor for the State of Kansas.
I have been working with clients in outpatient settings since 2011. Typical concerns that I have experience with are anxiety and/or mild depression, relationship issues, supporting people through separation and divorce, grief and loss, parenting, stress management, PTSD, and support for faith/spiritual life.
I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy quite useful and effective, so I tend to use that whenever it seems fitting. I do my best to make sure that I ascertain what approach works best with each client. I want to be flexible and sensitive to your needs and personality. I believe that if you feel safe with me and that you can trust me, that's the most important aspect of working together. I look forward to working with you!

Laurie shows an enormous amount of care and interest; she shares truth and perspective with me in a way that is honest, and also gracious, and leaves me feeling heard, understood, and encouraged. She has been a great help in recognizing where I need to set boundaries, how to re-frame the way I view my marriage, and how to change the way I speak to myself. I recommend her wholeheartedly.

Best counselor I’ve come across. She is someone I feel actually understands me and the parts she doesn’t, she takes the time to try to. She’s great at helping me to see what I need to work on in a gentle. Safe and positive way, and guides me in a positive way to curb my fears. Very grateful to her.

Laurie is a really good listener and very professional. She guides you through conversations and feelings but doesn't lead you to a specific destination. She gives you the space to do your own work and doesn't rush or push you. I really enjoy having her for a therapist.

My what a blessing Laurie Sansom is as a Christian counselor. Very helpful with homework and challenging my habits of behavior and reminding me I can choose to change. Hope is what I have after years of counseling, secular as well as Christian. Practical ways to change after over 30 years of bad habits or very negative patterns. Thank you so very much, well worth waiting to get you as a counselor. God Bless you and all associated with Betterhelp. Shalom!

Laurie is respectful & listens. She guides me when I give her the opportunity but it is also my responsibility to let her guide me. She reached out to me when I hadn’t messaged in a while, which I think is awesome because it’s technically my responsibility to keep the therapy going & to initiate the conversation. But, sometimes I’m not good about that & it’s not because I don’t want to talk. I just don’t know what to say. So, her reaching out & simply asking how I was really means a lot.

Working with Laurie has been a great experience! Being in a place where I can’t find “live therapy”, online counseling seemed to be the only option and thanks to Laurie I can say that it is just as effective as if you can meet your counselor personally. I find Laurie very quick in understanding the issues I bring to her and she always gives good advices/recommendations that help me understand more why I act the way I do. She is an experienced woman and I really appreciate that she connects the mental, physical and spiritual dimensions into her counseling. She is always checking on me to see how I am doing and always answers very quickly. The video sessions are even better!

The time that I spent with Laurie in our counseling sessions was extremely helpful to me during a very difficult time in my marriage and family business. Laurie quickly identified an area that was very weak in my/our life and relationships. It was also super helpful to hear from a counselor that I wasn’t “crazy” and that gave me courage to go forward and persevere in the tough decisions and boundaries that needed to be made. I also very much appreciated her empathy and wisdom around our whole situation. I would not have survived this time and situation in my life or learned so much with out my sessions with Laurie.
