About Me

Hello and welcome! My name is Leah Finn. I am a marriage and family therapist based out of Los Angeles and licensed in California. I practice under the laws of California. I have a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. My goal is to help you achieve your goals.

Since 2010, I have worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences to effectively manage and cope with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have also helped many people who have experienced trauma, emotional abuse, and/or disability. My counseling style is warm, interactive, and nonjudgmental. I provide an environment for you to feel safe to explore your fears, concerns, conflicts, and deepest desires for creating the life that you want. I use a strength-based approach that combines mindfulness with cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, narrative, solution-focused, and psychodynamic therapies.

I believe in treating you with respect, empathy, sensitivity, and compassion. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a community organizer for social, racial, and economic justice. My background includes extensive training in anti-oppression work, looking at how race, class, gender, sexuality, and ability overlap and shape our lived experience. I will tailor our work together to meet your unique and specific needs.

I specialize in working with LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and agender) individuals and families. I am committed to providing culturally competent, sex positive counseling with people who identify as polyamorous and people who are a part of the kink community. I am also certified as a domestic violence counselor with 48 hours of LGBT-specialized training.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling, happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. You have the right to feel heard, understood, whole, and complete. You deserve to be your best self.

I look forward to learning more about you!

I have only had a chance to meet via video once, but so far have found her to be a good listener and kept the conversation focused. She was helpful with feedback and empathy. Leah has stayed in touch via notes before and after session which is very helpful.

I love how Leah is easy to talk to and breaks things down very easily for me. She’s great!

Leah is great therapist. She was always caring and compassionate, she made sure would always listen to me and allowed me to really express my problems. Leah helped me learn new coping mechanisms and taught me a lot in the couple months we worked together. Unfortunately I no longer can work with her, but I really appreciated the time she was my counselor. Thank you Leah

Having Leah as my counselor has been a true blessing in my life and has yielded positive, immediate results for me. She's genuinely compassionate, understanding and solution-oriented. She exemplifies what I believe my ideal professional counselor should be and I am grateful to BetterHelp for providing me with such a perfect match for my counseling needs.
