My name is Lesley Schwam, I am from Los Angeles, California. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist LMFT since 2015. I began graduate school in 2009 and started earning my counseling hours toward licensure during graduate school. My work experience varies from working with adolescents prior to licensing, to now working with adults 18 years of age and older. My treatment approach is from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy perspective. I believe individuals have the ability to change behaviors daily and I also believe in helping individuals find solutions to help move forward with life goals. I have experience working with Trauma, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Grief and Loss, as well as Adjustment Disorders and phase of life transitions including finding a new job, a new career, entering retirement, or adjusting to a new role in life. I focus first on self care, coping skills, setting short and long term goals, and learning boundary setting skills, as well as positive communication skills. By setting and reaching goals we learn what we are capable of, and I know each individual person is capable of more than they believe.
Additional areas of focus: Addictions, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Intimacy-related issues, Anger management, Career difficulties, Coping with life changes, ADHD, Blended Family Issues, Body Image, Caregiver Issues and Stress, Chronic Pain Illness and Disability, Commitment Issues, Communication Problems, Control Issues, Coping with Natural or Human-Caused Disaster, Divorce and Separation, Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Emptiness, Family of Origin Issues, Family Problems, Forgiveness, Guilt and Shame, Isolation / Loneliness, Jealousy, Life Purpose, Money and Financial Issues, Mood Disorders, Panic Disorder and Panic Attacks, Post-traumatic Stress, Prejudice and Discrimination, Self-Harm, Sexual Assault and Abuse, Social Anxiety and Phobia, Women's Issues, Workplace Issues

Lesley has been instrumental in creating opportunities within myself to look at situations from a different perspective. If you would have bet my 30 year old self that at 62 I would be having a therapy session while sitting in my car eating my lunch I would have lost a bet ! Technology being used as it was meant to be

At first I was a bit skeptical with joining Better Help, due to previous experiences with reaching out for help. But a friend of mine had joined and suggested I take a shot at it. So I did, I took a giant leap of faith and went for it. The survey I took at the beginning was super easy and quick, and surprisingly, very accurate in pairing me with Lesley.
To put it in a few words, she is amazing. It’s been a few months now and I have made immense progress and have turned to Lesley when I need her. I couldn’t be happier with my outcome and recommend Better Help to everyone!
