Stemming from an educational foundation that included four years at parochial colleges, four years at Big Ten and state universities, and four years at a professional school where I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology, I went on to gain administrative, but primarily clinical experience in a range of settings that included a State hospital, County jail, nursing homes, a private psychiatric hospital, and several private practices. In addition, I have managed contracts and provided services through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP).
My counseling approach is framed in client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, psychodynamic, solution focused, existential, and faith based orientations. In my early years, I was a generalist working with all ages and families. Currently, my preference is working with individuals and/or couples in their late teens and older.
I view counseling as basically a process to learn more about oneself and/or relationship(s), and to make changes in those areas of life where one has control and/or responsibility. My role is that of teacher, analyst, and facilitator to help you reach your goals. I am sensitive to the challenges and obstacles that arise in examining one's thoughts, mood, and behaviors in the course of self-learning, personal/relationship growth, and change. From my breath of experience, I offer a range of perspective and skill building techniques through a flexible and culturally sensitive approach.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Leslie "Les" Netland. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Dr. Netland is incredible. I've never done therapy before, and he made it super comfortable for me to start up and continue with it. He's an amazing good listener and teacher. He's taught me how to handle certain situations differently or better than I would have before. He really takes the time to listen and asks a lot of questions to get the full picture and to understand. It's been an honor to have him as my first therapist ever, and I think many others would benefit from having him as their therapist just like I have.
Dr. Netland really listens, he reflects back what he's heard for confirmation, he offers insights and suggestions, and gently encourages your consideration of new paths forward. My time with him has been uplifting and we'll worth the time and investment.
He is genuinely the best therapist I have ever had. He gives the best feedback and is so helpful in everything. I appreciate Dr. Netland more than anything
Good listener, I need that now. He’s a genuine guy and really wants to help you figure out what you need. It’s all subjective of course, but I feel he’s the right guy for me. He understands.
So far, Les has delved very deep into and is now working his therapy magic amidst the extraordinarily complex clockwork that is my mind. He sees every cog of my personality and tries to modify it with me to fit my grand vision of myself. His insight is proving invaluable to my quest to figure out what exactly is wrong with me. I thoroughly enjoy the time we spend together.
Dr. Netland is a great listener and he's caring, while also giving practical advice and insight into situations.
BetterHelp is good. My employer's EAP provider's service sucks. They never answer the phone. Days later they call. Then it takes many more days until they add appointments to BetterHelp. This time, they did suggest I look in Better help because some people don't get an email informing them of this. And the email never came. Uprise Health is their current name. They keep changing their name because their behavior keeps trashing the name.
I like Dr. Netlands opening session. He asks questions to build a picture of my life and a base kind of what needs help.
Dr. Netland is a great psychiatrist he listens very well and he addresses what needs to be addressed and offers the best advice. He's also very professional when it comes to sessions and very respectful. He's amazing I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for someone to talk to.
Dr. Netland is a kind, compassionate and intuitive therapist. He is unlike any other therapist I’ve ever had in wonderful ways. He genuinely listens, repeats back for accuracy and makes sure you’re understood as a client. His easy nature and kind approach to therapy leaves me in a healthy space until we meet again. Highly recommend Dr. Netland.
I do appreciate Dr. Netland! He was able to navigate me through a crushingly difficult time and help me to straighten out my very confused and tangled feelings. I still have a lot of work to do, but Dr. Netland has gently helped me to see that I must give myself the same grace that I give others. Thank you, more than you know.
I have had only a few sessions and the techniques he told me about already are changing my life. I am so lucky to have Dr Netlands help. I feel like I got my life back
I have been opposed to therapy for years, he is making me feel very comfortable and safe.
Great therapist. Always listens to my issues and gives great resolution ideas.
I am grateful to be benefit from Dr. Netland's experience, expertise, and compassion. My conversations with him have been incredibly helpful.
Very sweet and kind! Always understanding! Active listener and always supports me in my next steps!
Dr. Netland has been so very, very helpful! He's a thoughtful, careful listener. Particularly, what I love most about the way he serves clients, is that it's done through a psychological centered perspective. It's not always about my little this or that but largely tends to focus on the deeply embedded psychological workings in myself (& others) he seems to know what he's talking about so well, that we can often cut through the specifics or details of a situation & focus on the deeper issues at work in me & how they affect me in my relationship with the world around me. I am so happy to have been matched with Dr. Netland!
Dr Netland, is the best, you encouraged me to stay true to myself when everyone around me felt like extra weight
