About me
Our Journey
I am always humbled and grateful when clients entrust me to join them on their journey to healing and empowerment, and I never take that trust for granted. I believe a professional partnership between a therapist and a client should be treated with respect, honesty, empathy, and integrity, and I strive to be a good steward of that partnership, as I am here to serve.
I have over 20 years of counseling experience with men, women, children, adolescents, families, and couples. I have worked with individuals who are dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, women's issues, and identity concerns, to name a few. I use an integrative approach to therapy, including cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused therapies. However, my most common approach is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
CBT is an approach that has been used and deemed effective when treating various mental illnesses and addressing many other issues or concerns. It is my most common method because it allows the client and me to explore their thought processes and other possible perspectives to address a situation or concern. It provides the flexibility to explore how we think, but it also allows us to examine how we act and our behavior patterns. CBT enables the development of healthy coping skills that can help resolve a conflict or issue.
In addition to CBT, I may integrate some counseling techniques from the Person-Centered and Solution-Focused therapies. Using the person-centered approach allows me to be present and authentic with my clients. It also allows me to be empathetic and understand their plight, and to encourage them to explore possible solutions based on their understanding and experiences. The Solution-Focused approach allows us to work together, keeping the end in mind. During the session, our primary focus is on the solution and not the problem. We work to elicit positive emotions, behaviors, motivations, etc., to help the client achieve the desired goal/change.
My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, build on your strengths, and move toward the life you want. I look forward to partnering with you in that process.
