About me

I am a marital and family therapist licensed in Connecticut with nearly thirty years of experience working in the mental health field at all levels of care including a variety of out patient settings through in patient psychiatric hospitalization. My professional interests include: depression, anxiety, relationship issues in just about any context from personal to professional, effective parenting within both bio and blended families, career challenges, emotional abuse, women's issues, codependency, medical/addiction issues and their profound impact on family members, grief and loss, life changes, and more. Training as a family therapist with a systems perspective provides me with a solid foundation for working with people of all ages in a wide range of situations.

I earned my B.S. in Education at the University of Connecticut in 1973, an M.S. in Education from Central CT in 1976, then an M.S. in Counseling with a focus on Marital and Family Therapy in 1992, also at Central CT. I was a public school teacher for nearly two decades before making a career change.

I believe that adequate self care and social supports, effective communication and healthy boundary setting, along with realistic expectations are all essential to life satisfaction. My clinical approach is founded in cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused. I strive to be positive, warm and strength based. I am privileged to work with clients exploring their challenges in a caring setting and find it rewarding when clients are willing/able to make positive shifts in attitudes and behaviors, restoring balance to their lives. It takes courage to commit to change. When you're ready to take your first step, I'm here to encourage and support you. I remain forever grateful to my clients. I've learned something from each and everyone along the way.

Always happy to hear from you!

I had a specific problem I needed help with. I was very depressed, anxious and confused by it. I
took a leap of faith and decided to try online therapy. I was quickly matched with Linda and I feel she’s a perfect match. She really listens, remembers what I talk about and is so easy to talk to. I’m so glad I took that leap of faith and reached out for help.

Linda is caring and knowledge therapist. She created a safe, judgment free environment which allowed me to work on difficult issues. She is respectful, timely and makes it clear that she cares about the wellbeing of her clients.

Linda Comeau has been an excellent therapist and support for me during this time of empty nest transition.....I"ve worked with other therapists in the past and find Linda's patient, professional and respectful nature has been very helpful in supporting this time of big change. Linda is also an excellent listener and open to letting the client suggest which style of therapy and structure will work best for them and their unique situation. Highly recommend Linda!

I am so happy to have been "matched" with Linda. It took a couple of times to find the right therapist. But I knew from our first session that she was the person I needed. And she is so professional, yet caring at the same time. I look forward to our sessions.
