Nice and comforting listener

Lynn is a responsive, accommodating, personable, direct, and MOST importantly a hilarious therapist.
I have a mental illness that is manageable, but not curable. I was diagnosed at a very young age and had many therapists come and go. Some were nicer and more personable than others, but I wouldn’t say any of them were funny. Because while they require patients to speak with full transparency and vulnerability, most of them behaved and communicated in the most unauthentic way.
Lynn chatted with me through the app everyday until our first session. And when I thanked her for doing so even before our first session, she said it was simply that she could tell I needed it. She asked me if I wanted to start trauma therapy and I said “I wholeheartedly do not want to, but I have to” and her response wasn’t “I’m so sorry” or “have you heard of radical acceptance?”
Lynn said “great answer.” It was simple, validating, empowering, empathic, and kind. It also made me laugh because she didn’t pity me at all. She simply agreed and moved on to the next question.
What I’m trying to say is, trauma therapy is like getting a tattoo removed, more painful and never fully removed. I know childhood trauma is going to be a bitch no matter what but if I have to do it then I feel the most confident doing it with Lynn. As well as Lynn’s ability to bring me back when I start to think about escape plans.

Linda (or Lynn), is an amazing therapist. She listens to you and helps guide you into figuring out what things can help you, offering a ton of insight into the different ways that can help you. She's very knowledgeable, but above all else she's a kindhearted person who really makes you feel like she genuinely wants to help, because I personally believe she does. Thank you, Lynn.
