About me

“It’s never too late to for a happy ending.”
Hi there, My name is Lisa Kosley and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).
I believe it’s never too late to hope. Life can throw a lot of curve balls at us, and we all walk through dark times. But the power of the mind is amazing. There is never a situation that is too dark, too late, or too hard that extra support, proven techniques, and positive thoughts can change around. We are not stuck in the dark situations life can put us in.
I know the power of community and having someone walk beside you as you fight for your health and happiness is incredibly powerful. It is why I strive to always be kinder than necessary, because everyone is fighting a battle of some sort.
You are courageous and strong for fighting in the way you do, and I want to amplify on the innate traits you already have. I will walk alongside you as a partner, encourager, and coach. It is my personal goal to see people succeed and accomplish their goal all while feeling good about themselves and where they’re heading in life.
I am a single mother and grandmother and I understand the importance of family and of persevering through difficult situations.
Experience
My dual licenses in Addiction Counseling and Professional Counselor give me an unique edge on the counseling process and the mechanisms of our brain. Our brains are powerful things, but sometimes they can work against us. Learning how to train your brain to help serve you is important and not as hard as many people think.
I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which is a psychotherapy that works on strengthening healthy skills, such as emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. I am also experienced and trained in trauma informed care and solution focused brief therapy.
I have worked in school settings as an interventionalists and as a classroom teachers, as well as in fire departments and hospitals doing crisis work and assessments. I believe everyone deserves the chance to work with a counselor. I have had the opportunity to work with many populations including; offenders, people whom struggle with substance abuse, dual diagnoses, and children and families with mental illness.
You might find me especially helpful if you or a loved one is looking for some extra professional support with:
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Family Counseling
• Substance Abuse
• Dual diagnoses
• Chronic mental illness
• Suicidal ideations
• Life transitions
