I am a mental health counselor licensed in Iowa with over 15 years of experience working as a counselor and wellness therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including health and wellness, stress management, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges. I have also helped many people over the years establish a strong sense of self worth, healthier habits and lifestyles. I also am a Certified Mental Health and Integrative Medicine Provider. Over the years, a lot of my work has centered around motivating ourselves to do the "tough stuff" - healthy lifestyles and weight management, being open and honest about who we are, tackle our inner dialogue, boost self-confidence, etc.
My counseling style is compassionate, warm and interactive. It takes a lot of courage to open up about thoughts, feelings and beliefs and I respect anyone who includes that as part of their personal journey. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and realistic problem solving modalities. I will design our sessions and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

She is helpful at your level, she isn’t trying to push you to make huge strides and doesn’t give a whole lot of advice. She listens, validates, and guides you to advocate for your own best interests. She is respectful and encouraging. 10/10

My regular therapist had surgery this summer and encouraged me to reach out to better help if I needed it. I was matched with Lisa and we only communicated through text message, but she kept me grounded during summer which is the time of high anxiety for me.
