About me

Hi my name is Lisa Tuthill and I am a License Professional Counselor (LPC). I hold my LPC in the state of Wyoming where I lived for ten years. I recently moved back to California where I am pursuing to transfer my licence so I can hold one in Wyoming and California. I have been in the mental health field for over 15 years. I have worked with a variety of clients in a various settings from Institutions, Rape Crisis Center's, Parenting groups to Private Practices. I have worked with children as young as two, teenager's, young adults, adults as old as sixty and couples and families. Clients I have worked with have ranged from server mental illness, intellectual disabilities, teenage struggles, and those who are looking to become more well rounded in their lives. I have also worked with clients that have Bi-polar, anxiety, depression, disassociate personalities, and clients that just want better coping skills.
My approach to counseling is to provide an environment that allows you to feel comfortable and safe to open up about what you would like to work on. I have what I call a tool bag that allows me to find what fits for each client as we are all unique. Some techniques I use is Mindfulness a holistic approach. I believe it is important to be able to ground ourselves as we continue to journey in this world. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach, Gestalt and I have used Play Therapy and Sand Tray although those are difficult to do in this setting. My approach is also to get to know the client and meet them where they are at emotionally.

Lisa is an amazing therapist! She has been working with me for over two years now to help me with my anxiety and self-esteem issues, and there was never a time where I felt like she didn't understand me. She always, always, asks the right questions to make me move forward, she always listens carefully and shows incredible empathy. She has made me feel comfortable since the first session and has encouraged me to express myself and my emotions in a very healthy way. She truly cares about her clients, and is always available, despite our time difference.
