I've been a therapist for over 10 years. I use powerful, evidence based methods that help my clients diminish symptoms of depression, contend with and eliminate anxiety, and improve self-esteem. My approach enables my clients to enjoy deep, satisfying, and secure relationships with others, to refine their character traits, to take risks, to overcome limitations, to rid themselves of negative thinking and self-defeating thoughts and beliefs, to eschew anger, resentment, and blame while finding the courage to ask for what they want and need in an honest, direct, and loving way. My work with clients allows them to achieve their goals in a timely manner and leads to greater fulfillment, meaning, focus, and ease in life.
In addition to earning my Masters Degree and License to practice Clinical Social Work (LCSW), I have studied Family Therapy at The Ackerman Institute for the Family. I draw strongly upon the work of Dr. David Burns, who is a pioneer in Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has developed TEAM-CBT which offers over 50 powerful methods to untwist one's thinking and rid oneself of negative thoughts and feelings such as depression and anxiety. I have sat for hours absorbing and practicing the lessons of Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) developed by Dr. Sue Johnson which helps to deescalate highly escalated couples and helps couples who's relationships have failed to maintain any satisfaction regain that spark by addressing the unmet attachment needs, fears, and longings that all humans posses. Dr. Irvin Yalom, Carl Rodgers, and Dr. Carl Jung are all strong influences in my work. I am also fascinated by the study of personality types and cognitive functioning developed by Meyers Briggs and others in that realm.
My degrees and credentials may or may not impress you. What's more important than what school I went to and what degree I obtained, first and foremost, is for you to decide whether or not you believe we can work together and the greatest indicator of that is trust! You need to ask yourself "Will this person understand me, my situation, and is he someone I feel comfortable trusting and opening up to?" Because in therapy, the greatest indicator of positive outcomes isn't the number of impressive degrees and certifications the clinician has earned, rather, it is always the therapeutic relationship developed between therapist and client. If the relationship is positive, the likelihood is much greater that the outcome will be positive as well.
My clients tell me that I am easy to feel comfortable with and that they trusted me very quickly and deeply. I want nothing more than for you to achieve your goals and to live the life that you want and deserve! If you suspect that I may be able to help and support you to that end, then please, by all means, be in touch!
