Lori Centineo

(LCWS, M.Ed)

About Me

Hello, , I am Lori Centineo, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New York. I earned my Master of Social Work degree at The University of Albany and have been practicing for the past five years. Prior to being a social worker, I was an elementary school teacher. While I enjoyed the teaching profession very much, my desire to help others in a more direct manner lead me to return to school, to begin a new career and chapter in my life. Since beginning my practice, I have had success working with adults, children, families and couples in outpatient settings to address issues related to depression, anxiety, grief, anger, family dynamics, trauma and transitions.

My warm, friendly and empathetic approach fosters an environment where clients feel accepted and safe, clearing the way for the development of therapeutic relationship that is key to success in therapy. I see therapy as a team approach between the client and the therapist, with the client leading the way, as each client is the real expert his/her life. I am skillful in many treatment modalities, such as Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness and Emotion Focused Therapy. I personalize my approach with each client, contingent on his or her needs, skills and persona.

I look forward to beginning your therapeutic journey with you.

Lori has been nothing short of astounding. i’ve been struggling with anxiety, depression, and some trauma for my whole life, and Lori has helped me delve to find the root causes for my feelings. She takes things slow, and at the pace at which I feel comfortable, and really, although she’s asking questions, she leaves me in control of the conversation. i don’t think i’ve yet to leave a session not laughing with her. i went into this really scared - my first time with online therapy and only the second time IN therapy - but it was the best decision i ever made. betterhelp is amazing, lori is amazing, and for the first time i. my life, i feel amazing.

Lori has been so helpful to me with understanding things going on in my life. She listens and understands me. I’ve been to several counselors in my life and no one has understood me or helped me as much as she has. I can’t say enough great things about her!
