Lori Miller, LMHC
About me
I’ve spent my life confined to a wheelchair, so I believe I have a unique understanding of just how challenging life can be and the strength it takes to ask for help. Whatever your struggles, I believe the first step to helping you overcome them is to build a connection with you based on commonly shared thoughts, feelings, and actions impacting how we feel, how we relate to others, and how we achieve our goals. Once you and I have identified any unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and actions standing in your way, we will work together on a plan to help you succeed by giving you the skills, confidence, and belief that your emotional well-being doesn’t depend on others or events you can’t control.
While pursuing my Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of West Florida and licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I have gained 12 + years of clinical experience helping adults, teens, children, and families heal from a variety of emotional wounds to include: PTSD, grief and loss, intimate partner violence, physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and neglect. I have worked with veterans, people dealing with substance dependence, homelessness, and chronic health problems.
In sum, my approach is not to make you relive the past, but to help you recognize--and ultimately, change--the core hurtful beliefs and actions fueling your current anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem and relationship conflicts. I am ready to listen when you share, sit in silence when you need it, and best of all, cheer on your successes!

Lori is excellent at what she does. She's only the first therapist I've worked with at BetterHelp, so I can't yet make any comparisons, but I can see that her heart is truly in her work.

Lori is incredibly empathetic and listens in a way that helps me constantly reflect on myself. I’m always excited for our sessions and always leave feeling rejuvenated and hopeful for what lies ahead. I’m so lucky I found her.

I have been in and out of therapy for 20 years with four different therapists. Not once have I had an experience like I am having with Lori. She not only listens, with total compassion, but she actually challenges my thought processes. She does so very gently yet confidently, and as many times as needed. I always end a session feeling stronger and more self-aware. Our sessions have literally changed my life.

I absolutely adore Laurie Miller. She’s easy to talk to and easy to open up to. Even when she’s grilling my brain, she’s not threatening. It makes it easy to try and make progress. I am in the process of trying to refer her to a friend now. I’m so glad that I signed up for BetterHelp
