I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida and a nationally certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) therapist. I earned my Master of Science in Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2009. I have a total of 8 years counseling experience and have worked with active duty service members in a busy military treatment facility as well as children and their families who are victims of abuse. I have also worked in a private practice setting helping individuals and families with issues related to depression, anxiety, life changes, and parenting children with special needs.
My counseling style is a combination of warm and empathetic, along with tactful honesty and accountability. I believe in mutual respect and compassion. I encourage my clients to be honest with me and if something is not working, to speak up and tell me. I believe in allowing my clients to take ownership of their therapy and gain skills in advocating for themselves and their loved ones. I also believe in understanding the human condition of imperfection and we all make mistakes. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psycho education, psycho dynamic, and humanistic treatment approaches. I understand that sometimes all a person needs is an active ear, but also quick and useful solutions to problematic symptoms or issues. I will create a balance within my counseling style based on your particular needs and preferences. I also enjoy adding an element of humor in my treatment when it is appropriate.
It takes a great amount of courage to ask for help. I look forward to helping you through your journey and learning more about yourself. My goal is to help empower you to improve what is working well for you and give you the tools to help change what is not working for you.
I look forward to starting this new journey with you!

Lorrie has been a great therapist for me during my time using Betterhelp for therapy. She is really good about educating me on the treatment and helping me tailor it to my specific needs. She has been a great help to me in my time of need and I really look forward to and enjoy our sessions together. Best therapist I’ve ever had.
I've talked to Lorrie for a few weeks now and having her right on my phone has helped more than I could imagine. She has been very patient and has answered everything very professionally.
My experience with Lorrie has been wonderful. She is thoughtful, patient, and compassionate and provides me the tools I didn’t even recognize I needed to continue making progress. I am process and logic driven, and Lorrie’s style has meshed very well with my needs. I am optimistic and excited for my continued sessions, progress, and growth with her guidance.
Lorrie has been thorough, professional, and compassionate. She understands my issues and helps me deal with them. She is a great listener and has offered me great support and ideas. I like that I can email her when I need to and that she's also available to do video conferencing.
She is fantastic!!
