Dr. Lucy Flitton
About me
Are you feeling overwhelmed with anxious thoughts that won't quiet self-down? Struggling with low mood, self-doubt, or patterns in relationships that keep repeating?
Maybe you're navigating a big life transition, grief, stress from work or family, or just sense that something feels'off' and you're ready for more clarity and calm? If any of these resonate, you're not alone -and reaching out is the first step.
Hello. I am Dr Lucy Flitton, a licensed, certified Complex Trauma Integrative and Somatic psychotherapist and psychologist based in the UK with 17 years of professional work experience.
I have experience in helping adults, adolescents, and children overcome their struggles. Within my practice, I apply different approaches in accordance with your presenting story while always working within a client centred framework.
In addition, I have trained in women’s health issues, especially relating to trauma-based symptoms. I am also trained within the Polyvagal model and Somatic approaches to help you explore how emotions show up physically. Additionally, I help you explore and work through conflicting parts and how they influence your well-being via Internal Family Systems.
I also make use of Existential principles to facilitate healing and Post Traumatic Growth, leading to outcomes like renewed purpose or stronger relationships. These notions align with Positive Psychology, too.
I therefore integrate aspects of Developmental Psychology, Neuropsychology, Existential concepts and Health Psychology into my approach when working with you.
Furthermore, I apply a life course approach to my work and therefore explore your struggles at an individual level as well as from a more societal-based perspective.
Based on my training as an NLP Master practitioner, I also explore and analyse how your use of language shapes your reality. I also look at how you use language to navigate and interpret your relationship dynamics.
My wide range of tools helps me work with and support people with various issues, including trauma-related struggles such as stress and anxiety, addictions and their co-occurring difficulties, relationship difficulties and struggles with poor sleep.
Our work together will thus enable you to flourish and reach your full potential. By working with me, clients express that they feel lighter and more grounded. They gain a deeper understanding, learn tools to manage overwhelming emotions, set healthier boundaries, and reconnect with a sense of hope and agency in their lives.
Many describe shifting from feeling stuck or self-critical to feeling more confident, resilient, and kinder towards themselves-even in tough moments or days.
Feel free to contact me directly through the platform if you have any questions. I aim to respond within 24 hours of receipt between 8.30 am and 7.30 pm Monday to Friday.
You can read also my blogs and articles on the ACCPH, Substack and Medium websites, as well as on my private practice website.
I look forward to working with you.
Lucy

Dr. Flitton is kind, understanding, and very easy to talk to. From the start, I felt safe and listened to. She helps me think about things in a new way and gives gentle advice that really helps. I feel like she understands what I’m going through and supports me without any pressure. Her sessions are helping me feel stronger and more able to cope with things in my life. I would recommend her to anyone who needs support with their mental health.

Lucy has transformed my confidence in setting boundaries and has helped me to truly understand myself. She is so supportive, empathetic and really cares about what I have to say. I have also really appreciated her knowledge and expertise in trauma responses - I didn’t realise I was suffering from trauma at first but Lucy immediately recognised it and explained the psychology behind the way I was feeling which really made me feel seen and supported. She is a wonderful person to confide in and I couldn’t recommend her enough!

Dr. Flitton is a very professional, experienced, caring, and empathetic therapist who has given me a tremendous amount of tools to help in my progress. As a therapist with a strong connection to the artistic world, she also offered a lot of understanding and insight on the topics of an artistic career (which is my case), and was a safe space to communicate with about the particular insecurities and difficulties that can come with a career in the spotlight. I highly recommend Dr. Flitton and greatly value our work together.
