My name is Lydia Peters, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. I earned my Masters of Social Work degree from Adelphi University. I've worked in many different settings with different populations. I possess a vast amount of experience with the elderly along with individuals living with developmental disability, traumatic brain injury (TBI), mental illness, chemically addiction, homelessness, individual’s accused of sexual offense or sexually deviant behaviors , children identified as medically frail, adults admitted to acute medicine & Veterans.
My experience has taught me that the most important aspect of counseling is building connection in order to share guidance through difficult situations.
A healthy therapeutic alliance brings forth a different perspective & additional support.
I believe it's very important to be open-minded and non-judgmental in my role as a therapist. I will continuously honor that role , respect confidentiality and support an open and honest working relationship.

Lydia is a wonderful therapist! She is compassionate, supportive, and affirms my feelings. She has a lot of experience with families battling mental health disorders and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our sessions together. I appreciate her kindness and patience and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional and seasoned counselor.
Lydia has been a good listener and is able to define goals that she hears come out as I talk. As a goal oriented person, I appreciate this skill in her.
Lydia is a pleasure to work with. She’s a very down to earth individual which makes it easy to discuss sensitive topics. She always listens to what I have to say, validates my feelings, and offers advice and guidance that has lead me to some better thinking.
