Hello and Welcome!
I'm Magda Jackson-Cooper.
I'm a Clinical Social Worker licensed in the District of Columbia.
I am very glad that you have taken time to do this for yourself. It's not always easy to make the decision to take care of yourself.
Self-care is especially important as we face the challenges we do today. I understand this may be new for some and may be intimidating.
I will do my best to make you feel safe and to make the process of sharing and partnering together one that is helpful.
I have more than 30 years working with adults of many backgrounds and cultures, lifestyles and those who identify as LGBTQ. I also have experience in working with adults who are survivors of childhood trauma, including abuse by Parents and or Caregivers.
In my practice I use a variety of practice methods to help my clients. These might include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). There will be times when I may ask you to push past some emotional blocks and fears, which may feel uncomfortable, but I will always be respectful of your feelings and boundaries. There may be times where some “homework” specific to your needs may be requested of you and we can agree together on what that might be.
My style is warm and open with a bit of humor meant to calm and reduce anxiety.
I know that your journey may be more challenging than you might expect, but this is such an important step that you've taken and I'll be there to support you along the way.
I look forward to working together!

She’s helped me so much! I am truly grateful that I found her. Highly recommended to others.
Magda is understanding, patient, and gentle. As someone struggling with grief, depression, and anxiety, There is no topic of conversation that she cannot handle or guide me through! Her advice is insightful and very appropriate, and we make weekly goals to help progress through my challenges with the grieving process. She is also very flexible with scheduling/ responsiveness and has made therapy so easy to prioritize. I highly recommend her!!
Most excellent counselor, reflective, calming, empowering and extremely supportive. She has helped me work through many challenges and obstacles regarding family and personal relationships. She is the best sounding board and always helps me to see the bigger picture and to stay focused in the present! So lucky to have her!
Magda has completely changed my life. She is the personification of comfort and calmness. So blessed to have found someone to lead me, validate me, and give me the coping mechanisms to survive life with a life jacket on . She is one of a kind, the most soothing and poignant appointments.
Megda is the best!
