Welcome! My name is Margaret Millhench. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan for seven years. I have worked with college students and clients on a part-time basis from home. The presenting issues have included anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, career difficulties, relationship struggles and life changes to name a few. I also helped many women experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault.
My counseling style is humanistic and person centered with a holistic approach using the body with the mind. Emotional blocks are held in the body from past traumas. In the beginning, depending on your real needs and readiness, we would work to develop trust and support with coping skills. I would use centering and grounding techniques to help create a sense of safety. Eventually, I would use psycho-dynamic, somatic and mindfulness techniques to help express the language of the body. I do not believe in stigmatizing labels. Treatment would follow your real needs.
I hope to have the opportunity to meet you!
Margaret

Margaret is a friendly, warm and welcoming therapist. I had done some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the past and thought I understood most of what could be useful to me concerning the nature of my anxiety and depression. However, Margaret's approach has helped me see new connections between my feelings, how they affect my body physically, and what deeper, underlying things might be going on that tie them all together. Her approach considers both the 'physical' and 'mental' side of things, which are so closely intertwined. I feel she has tailored the help she offers to suit my specific needs and personality, and works hard to get to know me so she can do so even more. She is a great listener, compassionate and respectful.

I have ONLY been with her for 2 weeks now and she has been amazing. She always targets the root cause of my thoughts and behaviour. I was struggling to comprehend my feelings and she is able to put things in perspective for me. She is able to point me in the right direction and helps me to go about like a little bit more happier. I am glad that I have her as a therapist and I hope to resolve a lot of my personal issues over time with her support and guidance. She is extremely responsive as well which is super comforting in times of need.

Margaret is non judgmental and understands of where I am at in my mental state, she is very helpful with both resolving what is going on around me and listening. She is honest and gives me the chance to be honest with myself. I'm grateful to have been able to go to therapy with her.
