About me

My name is Margot Charkow-Ross and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I received my Masters of Social work from the University of Southern California with focuses in Mental Health and Military Social Work. The majority of my experience is working with incarcerated individuals working on issues related to stress/anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, family dysfunction, legal issues, substance abuse, adjustment issues, goal setting, change and motivation.

As a therapist I am non-judgmental, straight-forward, warm and supportive. I utilize my empathy, compassion, and humor to help my clients feel comfortable and heard. Every individual is different, which I strive to adjust therapy modalities appropriately to reach an appropriate individualized treatment for each client. I encourage clients to advocate and empower themselves throughout all aspects of their lives by increasing self-esteem and gaining confidence through therapy. I apply aspects of motivational interviewing, client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral and solution-focused therapy modalities.

I am also certified as an Equine Assisted Psychotherapist from the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional from the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP). I am always trying to improve my skills by being involved in trainings as well as individual study on evidence-based practices and new research involving better treatment outcomes for clients.

I believe during different times in our lives we all need a place that is safe, comfortable and supportive to help us find the direction to live the lives that we want. Sometimes thats realizing that we need to seek help from a third-party, non-judgemental professional to build the tools and confidence to get there. I hope I might be that person for you.
