I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Alabama, and I also have a doctorate degree in counselor education. I teach master’s students how to become counselors. I have had the opportunity of gaining experience in counseling people with diverse needs including substance abuse and addiction, depression, stress and anxiety, relationship issues, and coping with life changes. I have also helped clients who have experienced trauma and abuse, family conflicts, and anger management issues.
I offer individual and couples counseling. I provide a comprehensive approach to treatment that focuses on the entire human being and their life experiences to improve overall mental well-being. I use a person-centered approach to counseling with an emphasis on the needs or desires of the client. I incorporate techniques in the counseling process that include cognitive-behavioral, and psychoeducational approaches. It is my responsibility to provide my clients with a safe environment that helps to promote growth where the client feels secure and free to express him/herself in a real, true, and open way. The overall goal of mental health therapy is to help clients better understand and manage how to overcome life’s challenges.
Additional areas of focus: LGBT, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Trauma and abuse, Grief, Intimacy-related issues, Parenting issues, Self esteem, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Compassion fatigue, Military and Veterans Issues, Multicultural Concerns

Dr. Rogers, I've got huge respects for you! You had been supporting me in a time when I was lost, agitated, depressed and anxious. I sincerely appreciate how you had given me enough time to hear me out, to help me, to advice me and guide me as well. "Standing on your own ground" is something I learnt from you and had been practicing since then. Thank you, Maria! ❤️
