About me

My name is Maritza. I've been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 10 years, and have been working with veterans, spouses, and staff. I have over 20 years of counseling experience. Prior to licensing my experience I worked with domestic violence survivors, individuals in shelter placement, seniors and children. I am a down-to-earth counselor. My strongest attribute is my ability to connect to others. I utilize numerous modalities including but not limited to Client-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness, Supportive therapy and Narrative therapy techniques in my counseling sessions. I always tell my colleagues that I speak English. I like for my clients to feel comfortable and not feel as they are speaking to a robot or a counselor that utilizes ivy league vernacular. I am a spiritual individual and I am guided during my counseling sessions with the purpose of helping others get through the obstacles that they are facing in their lives. Counseling is the beginning of your healing journey, it can be painful along the way. If you're committed and willing to begin your journey of healing, I will support you in finding ways you can make sense and cope with your experience.

I will respond as expeditiously as possible to all messages. On rare occasions, I may not be available but will follow up with emergencies as they arise. Flexibility is key and I am confident that we will be able to work together to find the best day and time for us to work and meet. I am available for phone and video sessions only. If you find yourself in a mental health crisis, a counselor with more availability will be a better fit due to my time constraints.
